Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
St. Paul's Level I Atrium enjoyed a beautiful first year and is ready for fall registration! Classes will meet on Sundays during our elementary Faith Formation program, 9:45-10:45 am
What is CGS?
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Montessori-based approach to the religious formation of children, rooted in Sacred Scripture, Liturgy, and respect for the child’s rich relationship with God. Our level I Atrium serves children age 3-6.
A Place Prepared
In the early Church, the faithful were prepared for initiation into the life of the Church in a place prepared for the spiritual life. As their means of entrance into the church, they called this place the “Atrium.” Just so, when children are prepared for participation in the church community, the place should be prepared to help children pray. Our parish Atrium serves as this prepared space for children in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
A Progressive Structure
Early in the year in the Atrium (our prepared space for catechesis), children start with 30-minute weekly sessions. As they become oriented to our Atrium environment, we begin to extend our sessions, eventually meeting for up to 2 hours each week.
